Muro
Leccese stands close to what is presumed to have been a
Messapian centre,
the remains of whose megalithic constructions can still
be seen.
An
interesting menhir about 3-50 metres high stands on
the outskirts of the town.
One should also see the XV century Palazzo Principesco
and the churches of the
town, which include: the parish church ( 1640- 1693),
consecrated to the Annunciation;
the Immacolata (1778) and the small Byzantine church
of S.Marina, IX-XI century.
